The kindness of people and sharing ideas

Fantastic day visiting Ragnfrid and Borge at University College in Inland near Lillehammer.

It is tricky trying to understand what people take from being in the natural environment and interaction with  animals but  the benefits of connection and community are easier to quantify.

The challenge of self sustainability was a recurring theme and the varying levels of commitment from central government. A number of diversified funding models exist.

An increasing awareness of mental health and a desire to develop methodologies that can address the issues has created a space for projects on farms that can provide tools to help people facing these challenges.

Many similarities to the UK in terms of mental health interventions

At short notice we received an invite to visit a project called Lekvollhagan Gård working with many groups, residential and non residential. The work with children with mental health challenge was fantastic. It was very interesting to see the power of animals and nature to bring meaning and healing. Some inspiring examples of success but lots of hard work and commitment from humble beginnings. A very dedicated, generous and hard working couple!

Take away ideas:

Stay focused, be clear on who you are trying to support and keep your eye on the numbers!
